Pensoft is proud to be a member of a new Horizon Europe project that aims to improve the health and pollination services of wild pollinators by thoroughly examining their exposure to pesticides.
Wild fauna and flora are facing numerous and challenging environmental disturbances. One of the most affected animal groups are pollinators, which are threatened by the widespread use of anthropogenic chemicals, such as pesticides.
WildPosh (Pan-european assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of chemical stressors on the health of wild pollinators) is a transdisciplinary project with the goal of significantly improving the understanding of the risks posed by pesticide exposure to wild pollinators, and promoting their sustainable health and pollination services in Europe.
This aligns with the goals of the European Green Deal and EU biodiversity strategy for 2030, which emphasize the need to reduce pollution and protect pollinators. WildPosh focuses on understanding the routes of chemical exposure, evaluating toxicological effects, and developing preventive measures. By addressing knowledge gaps in pesticide risk assessment for wild pollinators, the project contributes to broader efforts in biodiversity conservation.

This collaboration has the potential to greatly benefit the crucial role that wild pollinators play in our ecosystems.
