COAST-SCAPES is a collaborative project aimed at reimagining our relationship with coastal systems, according to project coordinator Prof. Manel Grifoll from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
Introducing COAST-SCAPES: A Newly Launched Project for enhancing Resilience and Biodiversity Protection through Nature-Based solutions
A team of leading experts in maritime engineering, marine ecology, and biodiversity have come together in Barcelona (Spain) from 7 to 9 October to officially launch the COAST-SCAPES project. Funded by the European Commission, this project aims to propose a new approach for climate-resilient coastal landscapes.Hosted by the Maritime Engineering laboratory at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, this meeting focused on setting strategic direction and aligning scientific, technical, and dialogue objectives among partners across Europe and beyond.
The consortium partners had an prospect over two days to present their missions within COAST-SCAPES. This included showcasing how each partner institution will contribute towards building science-based resilience pathways that are community-driven. The discussions were led by project coordinator Prof. Manel Grifoll who emphasized key deliverables and milestones and also future challenges and plans for work-related activities. He also highlighted the crucial role of Core Pilots and Replicating Pilots in developing scalable resilience plans for replication and export.
This is great news for improving our understanding of how climate change impacts these interconnected systems!
