The visit continued beyond the office with a several-day trip around Bulgaria that covered cultural and historic hubs such as Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa.
Both parties agreed that this meeting underscores their shared vision to advance open, innovative, and accessible scholarly dialog. With the MoU in place, they look forward to transforming this mutual understanding into concrete collaborative initiatives.
New Species Named After pensoft CEO
Shortly after the visit, one of VAST’s delegates – biologist Prof.Dr.Quang Manh Vu (also affiliated with Hoa Binh University) – published a study in ZooKeys (Pensoft’s inaugural journal for zoological systematics). The research paper lists species of slugs collected by Prof.Dr.Quang Manh Vu along with his Bulgarian colleague Dr.Ivailo Dedov (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) and Vietnamese colleague Dr.Tuan Trieu Anh (Hung Vuong University).
“When I found out I had discovered a new species,” said Dr.Ivailo Dedov on naming it Ostracolethe penevi.
“I had been looking forward to naming it after my friend Prof.Dr.Lyubomir Penev who has helped me throughout my career.”
