Pensoft and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology Establish New Scholarly Collaboration

During ⁤a recent visit to the headquarters of​ Pensoft, an open-access scholarly publisher and⁢ technology provider⁣ in Sofia, Bulgaria, representatives from the Vietnam academy of Science and Technology (VAST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with​ their hosts.

Collaboration between Pensoft and VAST

In August, Pensoft had the pleasure of hosting colleagues from VAST at their headquarters. The visit was marked by fruitful discussions on scholarly publishing, future innovations, current​ challenges in academia, and⁤ potential collaborations.

The highlight of the meeting was the formal signing ​of a ‌Memorandum of ‍Understanding (MoU) between Prof. Dr. Lyubomir Penev,⁣ CEO and​ founder of Pensoft, and prof. dr.Thai⁣ hoang, Vice Chairman of the Scientific Council for‌ Materials Science at VAST and Editor-in-Chief⁤ of ⁤vietnam Journal for Science⁤ and Technology.

“This MoU is an⁣ vital step​ towards ⁣fostering international collaboration ‌in scholarly​ publishing,” commented ⁢Prof. Dr. Lyubomir ⁤Penev on the occasion.

The two parties ​discussed ways ⁢to use ARPHA – Pensoft’s full-featured end-to-end publishing⁣ platform – for the publication of Vietnam’s scientific‌ journals, books, and other research outputs.

During the visit, VAST representatives provided an in-depth look ⁢at⁣ their publication outlets⁣ and shared insights⁤ into the Vietnamese scholarly publishing landscape. In turn, Pensoft offered a‍ comprehensive overview of their journey over three decades as well as their innovative publication platforms and solutions.

The visit continued ‌beyond the office with a several-day trip around Bulgaria ⁣that covered cultural ‌and historic hubs such as Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa.

Both parties agreed that this‍ meeting underscores their shared vision to advance⁢ open, innovative, and ‌accessible scholarly dialog. With the MoU in place, they ⁤look forward to transforming⁢ this⁢ mutual understanding into concrete collaborative⁤ initiatives.

New⁣ Species Named After pensoft CEO

Shortly ⁤after the visit, one‍ of VAST’s delegates – biologist Prof.Dr.Quang Manh Vu (also affiliated with Hoa Binh University) – published a study‌ in ⁤ZooKeys (Pensoft’s inaugural journal for ‌zoological systematics). The research​ paper lists species of slugs collected by Prof.Dr.Quang Manh Vu along with his Bulgarian colleague Dr.Ivailo Dedov (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) and Vietnamese colleague Dr.Tuan Trieu ‌Anh (Hung Vuong ‌University).

“When I found out ‌I had discovered a new species,” said Dr.Ivailo Dedov on naming it Ostracolethe penevi.

“I had been looking forward to naming it after my friend Prof.Dr.Lyubomir Penev who has helped me throughout my career.”
