Pensoft is proud to be a co-organiser of the upcoming conference, “Living Data 2025: Long Live Biodiversity Data”. This four-hour session will focus on the transfer adn continuity of knowledge across research projects.
In October 2025, four major institutions in biodiversity research – TDWG, GBIF, OBIS, and GEO BON – will come together to host the Living Data 2025 conference in Bogotá, Colombia. This event is set to be a crucial gathering for experts and stakeholders in the field of biodiversity data.
The conference will revolve around four core themes: open data, data integration, biodiversity data submission, and community engagement and capacity-building. As an academic publisher with a strong commitment to these areas, Pensoft will participate as an exhibitor and award sponsor at this event. We are also hosting a symposium during the conference.
At our branded stand at the conference venue, delegates can learn more about Pensoft’s exclusively open-access scholarly portfolio and our involvement in various international scientific projects. Additionally, our portfolio includes journals that cover all four themes of Living Data 2025.
We are excited to present the Pensoft Award for Best Student Oral presentation during this event. The winner will receive a free publication in one of our peer-reviewed journals.
The symposium we are co-organising with LifeWatch ERIC and Naturalis Biodiversity Centre is titled “Long Live Biodiversity Data: Knowledge Transfer and Continuity across Research Projects”. This session aims to showcase tools that enable the exchange of scientific outputs across disciplines, organisations, and initiatives. We will also discuss how targeted communication can help transform science results into actionable knowledge.
our symposium will feature several projects affiliated with Pensoft, providing diverse insights on this topic. The session will be divided into two parts, taking place on 22 October and 23 October.
To learn more about Living Data 2025 and register for in-person or virtual attendance, please visit the conference’s website. Our session is listed under ID number 6788879 on this page.
As a bonus, the conference organisers have launched a call for extended abstracts that will remain open until 1 October 2025. participants who choose to publish their abstracts in our journal Biodiversity Details Science and Standards (BISS) will enjoy permanent accessibility and discoverability for their contributions.
The TDWG network launched BISS as their official scholarly outlet in collaboration with Pensoft in 2017. They have provided a list of advantages for submitting an extended abstract even if your abstract has already been accepted by the Living Data 2025 organisers. These include DOI registration, indexation at numerous scientific databases, embedded media, tables and supplementary materials, and usage metrics.
